Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the Flood Risk Review (FRR) Meeting for Phase II of the Middle Kansas Watershed last week on October 24, 2018. The FRR meeting kicked off Phase II community review of the maps. We are asking you to review the maps and provide feedback by November 30, 2018. Let us know if you need more time within reason beyond November 30.
I have placed the presentation and the handout on our website for your reference. Attached are the sign in sheets and meeting notes that provide a summary of the discussion topics and lists some action items from the meeting. Here is also the link to the web map where you can review and comment on the draft floodplains. Please keep in touch if you have questions or concerns on this project.
After community review, we will move into the public review phase. Ideally, at that time we would suggest that you send letters to affected residents that explain the project and provide a link to the web map. We can provide a letter template to help with that notification if desired. Also, as part of the public review, we will hold a Public Open House. We will host the event, but we will need your assistance when the time comes in finding a location, helping to staff the event, and in notifying the public.
Please review the attached meeting notes, and follow up with me as needed. Below are the action items outlined in the attached notes. Please refer to the document for more details. We are happy to host calls with our engineers if needed to further discuss issues, such as the floodway question in Saint Marys. Lastly, if there are people you think need to be on our email list that are not, please let me know so I can add them to our list.
1.Does Saint Marys want a floodway?
2.Wamego Meeting – let KDA know details
3.Topography – KDA will work with Wood to ensure any newly provided topography is incorporated into the map
Let me know if you have any questions, and thank you for your participation. Please pass along to anyone I might have missed.
