Every month the State sends notice of the sales tax remittance. Several years ago I read in the Manhattan Mercury that the remittance comes about two-months after it has been collected. So, the July remittance below would be from April's collections. (The article quoted a finance person from the city of Manhattan.)
For the city's records (monthly financials) - the two lines titled "City Tax File" get combined and that revenue (Local Sales Tax) is credited to the city's general fund. The other two lines also get combined, and that revenue is the (Countywide Sales Tax.) It gets put into the aptly named countywide sales tax fund.
The city's Local Sales Tax was established in 1984.
