Some additional notes:
- The City prefers that the contractor replace half of one side of the block at a time in order to reduce the time each business is disrupted. This will split the project into four (4) sections.
- During the project, as much as possible, access shall be allowed to all the businesses by wood plank or other means.
- Where concrete and building foundation joints are overlapping or create problems, contractor shall determine a solution with City during site visit. City can cut concrete sidewalk at building when necessary.
- Where stone facades overlap concrete sidewalk, contractor shall determine plan of action with City during site visit. City shall contact the property owner in order to include them in the discussion.
- When a step-in front a business’ door must be removed, City shall meet with property owner to determine options and then work with contractor for proper replacement.
- When the sidewalk has a vent to the basement of a building, City shall contact the property owner to request the void/hole be blocked so that the area can be filled. City should be able to do any additional work due to these vents but shall alert contractor of any additional work anticipated.
- At 5th Street and only at 5th Street, ramp access design must be installed and must match the KDOT approved ramp designed for the intersection at 6th Street (see attached “Blended Transition Thru Curb Radius - Alt. Type 3).
- The intersection at 6th Street, including the ramps and the sidewalks up to the corner of the buildings, will be replaced later this year and are not included in this RFP. City shall identify the point where one project starts and the other ends.
- Additional options - contractor may include additional costs to insert a decorative red brick stamped concrete design around the streetlights. The City prefers decorative concrete to be a circle or a box, with one edge of circle or box touching the curb and the streetlight centered in decorative concrete.
- Winning bidder will need to submit proof of insurance.
