Credit Card Transactions
The city uses two credit card processing companies. One of the companies (KanPay) handles the in-person over the counter payments at city hall, whereas the other (forte) handles the online transactions as of January 2020. Both options involve the user being charged the processing fee(s):
KanPay (in-person payments)
KanPay transactions differ from normal credit card transactions in that the user is charged the transaction fee.
The transaction fee is currently 2.5% of the total due and that fee is remitted directly to KanPay.
The charge shows up on your credit card as "Kansas.gov".
Example: A utility bill of $100 would cost the customer $102.50.
